Week 28

Our Tongues

The tongue, though it is a very small member of the body, has enormous power for good or evil. It must be controlled continually.

1. Circle key words and phrases in the following Scriptures.

All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
JAMES 3:7–8

Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
. . . An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers
him up.
PROVERBS 12:18, 25

He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity.
PROVERBS 21:23

Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.
1 PETER 3:10

He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.
PROVERBS 13:3

* Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
COLOSSIANS 4:6

2. What do we learn about the tongue in (answer briefly):

James 3:7–8 1
Peter 3:10
Proverbs 12:18, 25
Proverbs 13:3
Proverbs 21:23
Colossians 4:6

Our tongues seem to be getting bad press in this thread, however, I would assert that they are an extremely useful body part. And the science and ingenuity of Man can apparently greatly increase the proficiency of our tongues: consider this reading from the sacred texts:

VINCENT
(interrupting)
Excuse me, sorry to interrupt. I'm
curious, why would you get a stud
in your tongue?

Jody looks at him and says as if it were the most obvious
thing in the world.

JODY
It's a sex thing. It helps
fellatio.

So go easy on the tongues, RB; maybe some day you'll find out those little beauties can get you REALLY close to heaven!

So, on Judgement Day, the Lord God need only ask "Do you accept Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour?"
A "yes" means the supplicant goes to Heaven, a "no" means Hell?
That's it?
If that is it, then that means it is so simple to determine who gets in and who does not that a machine could do the job, or so could you! Which means that God is not needed, Occam's razor swings relentlessly down and *blam* God is gone!
But if God is gone, then suddenly Creation never got done and everything will disappear in a puff of smoke about ... NOW
Hmmm, didn't happen, therefore the whole thing falls apart.
I have just rescued God from oblivion. To show your gratitude, send five tax-deductable dollars to your local chapter of the Cancer Society.
Goodnight.

Only those who reject God completely and do not repent go to hell. Anyone who believes in Jesus does.

No.

Why would a non-christian be interested in a bible study? They're for people who are already christians.

As hard as it may be to believe, no.

I'm sorry to all those that thought RBHILL was changing his ways or had been blessed with a miraculous healing of his dyslexia.
