Personally, I think preaching anything but the Gospel from the pulpit is wrong. I go to church to hear the word of God, not some one's political, social, or cultural opinions.

Interesting article, I would never have pegged you for a "HuffPost" reader. I don't mean to be offensive, but I really imagined you as more of a bury your head in the sand - read only stuff you agree with - sort of fellow. So, good on you.

Also, I'm with you, I wish the church would stick to scripture...but these are the tragic results of tolerating (worse still, encouraging) widespread irrational belief.

Did you happen to catch Sam Harris' recent article in the Huffington Post? Here is a link:

"Will we ever be ready for the audacity of reason?"

Good article. Actually I am informed to a degree, and I try to hear all sides on the issues. But here in the forums I hold to a line and stand my ground. I guess that would lead some to believe I'm a narrow minded right wing religious fanatic. I've been called a homophobe, bigot, racist, and a host of other things. I'm not prefect and I've caught myself in trouble a few times. I'm still learning too.

Honestly, because of these I was hesitant to read the article. I dreaded what sort of nonsense it might be about. My humble apologies. It was an excellent article worthy of being bookmarked and passed along to others. Thanks for sharing it!
