    Do you really mean "today", or do you really mean "circa"? I'm thinking you can't have it both ways.

    But from God's perspective it was entirely different.

    The calendar we are using today wasn't in use 2000 years ago. Also, the territory wasn't "occupied," it was just part of the Roman Empire.
