like them, then don't play or make your own sermon competition or
'color outside the lines' like Vistesd. I could understand your complaint
if it had been noting that the sermon topic was somehow obscure or
overly focused. But this one was about as predictable as a topic gets.
If enough people stop participating, then the competition will die on
the vine like most threads. As it was, there was plenty of participation
and, thus, the competition seems a success to me.
I see the coordinated selection of topics as an opportunity to get people
to focus like a preacher does. If you always preach on a topic familiar
or comfortable to you, you will be a crappy preacher. If you are forced
into a topic, you have the opportunity to demonstrate versitility.
I think that even some of the low-scoring sermons have been excellent
preachments in their own right (although perhaps deserving of the low
score because of their failure to adhere to the existing criteria). If you
can't celebrate that, then you're just being a whiner.
