Former Pope Benedict says the Catholic church is in crisis and at a crossroads.

He did not come out and say it, but essentially he is implying that the "new church" is apostate.

He is asking the question as to whether Jesus is needed for salvation. There are those in the church who are saying Jesus is not needed.

I'm not sure how much more heretical you can get than that.
