Originally posted by moon1969My version is interpreted somewhat differently. It reads:
If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.
- Gospel of Thomas, verse 70.
Jesus said, "That which you have will save you if you bring it forth from
yourselves. That which you do not have within you will kill you if you
do not have it within you."
This is supposed to be from the doubting Thomas and it appears that
his memory or understanding may have been flawed. For in the next
verse 71 he writes that Jesus said, "I shall destroy this house, and no
one will be able to rebuild it."
His writings were not accepted by the church as being inspired.
