@fmf saidYes, I already got all of that.
Well, now you have. Now you can no longer say you have never heard the turn of phrase, "at one's behest".
As I said, I am not going to talk about my loss of faith at your behest. If I should happen to discuss it with someone else, feel free to read the posts.
No need to repeat yourself.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidMoney only destroys the "more abundant life" [1] that more Christians should strive for.
The problem with the scriptural idea of a "more abundant life" referring to the here and now, is that many Christians 'don't' experience such an abundance. (In body, mind, and soul) Indeed, historically speaking, Christians and Jews have experienced persecution for their beliefs, nullifying any sense of Earthly abundance.
It could just as easily be asserted that 'm ...[text shortened]... the worries of poverty and provide avenues for happiness not available to a person lacking in money.
Some do fall into the habit of substituting money for real life abundance, but those who do so "have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows" [2], which prevent living life more abundantly [3]. I say here and now that one can live life more abundantly while living in poverty, and in persecution, and even in incarceration. These things affect the body, but not the mind or the soul.
Even Yoda knew this when he said, "Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter."

@kingdavid403 saidTo say that I "piss" on people's views is to mischaracterize my perspectives and the contributions I make to this community.
But I don't "piss" on anyone's views.
If you really believe that, then you are as blind as your avatar presents you.
@fmf saidfmf, You make great contributions to this forum and community. I have grown significantly by some of your contributions. I hold your opinions in high regard.
To say that I "piss" on people's views is to mischaracterize my perspectives and the contributions I make to this community.
However, you do piss on anyone's views that are believers if they post in your threads etc.
As a Christian believer, I find it hard sometimes to over look your pissing on my views, and others Christians views, whom you currently disagree with.
If you can't see that, then you need to open your eyes.
No offense intended in this post; honestly.
@kingdavid403 saidI don't "piss" on anyone's views. And I never have in all the years I have been a member of this community. Perhaps you have difficulty processing thoughtful and robust dissent and disagreement.

But, this is a debate and discussion forum. One should expect there to be contrasting perspectives and people propagating them with rigour and tenacity.
To describe that as "pissing" on people's views is a mischaracterization of my intellect and character and maybe reflects on you and not on me.

No. It is not a mis-characterization; and, it only reflects on you. Nothing about your intellect, your character surely.
Take it as you wish; I'm done disputing this with you.
I was raised to eat the chicken and spit out the bones. You're one bony chicken fmf; and, I and others find ourselves choking often on your bones.

@kingdavid403 saidLet them accuse me constantly of being a liar and a troll and of "pissing" on their views, then, if that's the kind of discourse they prefer.

@kingdavid403 saidThank you. None of my opinions involve me "pissing" on those of others. Thank you for your kind words. I have had to endure a fair bit of scorn and ad hominems over the years as one of the more prominent and prolific atheists here. Thanks again.

@suzianne saidIt is my opinion, and working experience, that 'poverty', 'persecution', and 'incarceration' affect the mind (and soul) as well as the body. There can be no doubt about that. Indeed, taking incarceration alone, I have met people who have been mentally shattered by such an experience, with and without God.
I say here and now that one can live life more abundantly while living in poverty, and in persecution, and even in incarceration. These things affect the body, but not the mind or the soul.
