No longer will the UK teach creationism as if it were a science instead focusing on evolution and the changes of life forms through time.To be clear, it's been standard practice in schools in the UK not to teach creationism as a theory of origin (as opposed to a story in the Bible) since the current state system was formed. It wasn't the "UK" but a small number of faith based schools who had state funding and were from the evangelical end of things who were trying to teach creationism as a scientific theory recently and had already been stopped from doing this before this announcement. Independent schools (that is to say not state funded) can teach what the parents will accept. Evolution has been taught as part of the GCSE course (secondary school) since its inception. All that has changed is that it is being included as part of the Primary School curriculum. Probably as much so the current government can say it supports science as for any educational reason. This isn't the huge shift in policy you seem to be implying.
