No longer will the UK teach creationism as if it were a science instead focusing on evolution and the changes of life forms through time.

Now if some of the idiot states in the US can do the same.....

To be clear, it's been standard practice in schools in the UK not to teach creationism as a theory of origin (as opposed to a story in the Bible) since the current state system was formed. It wasn't the "UK" but a small number of faith based schools who had state funding and were from the evangelical end of things who were trying to teach creationism as a scientific theory recently and had already been stopped from doing this before this announcement. Independent schools (that is to say not state funded) can teach what the parents will accept. Evolution has been taught as part of the GCSE course (secondary school) since its inception. All that has changed is that it is being included as part of the Primary School curriculum. Probably as much so the current government can say it supports science as for any educational reason. This isn't the huge shift in policy you seem to be implying.

In the US it's not the state, it's school district by school district. 11 years ago a creationist effort was defeated in a precedent-setting case.

Evolution should not be taught as science, because it is nothing more than an ideological philosophy masquerading as science. 😏

An announcement was just made on SA news that a major new archeological find has been discovered, which consisted of several complete skeletons ranging from young children to very old adults, with a brain capacity of about one-third of modern humans.

Provisional age is put at between 2.5 and 2.8 million years ago. It is a new pre-homo sapiens species, named Homo naledi.

Will probably hit world headlines later today.

But if you like, you can come and look at and touch the skulls. They will be on display right here at the Cradle of Humankind.

They haven't taught creationism in UK STATE schools, it has been taught in some religious private schools.

The idea that all the Christian religious nut jobs are all in the USA and not in the UK is sadly untrue.

Now if they could make the next logical step and stop presenting evolution as if it were science, they would really be getting somewhere.
