Says more and more people these days. They say they died or were just taken by an angel or Jesus Christ and were shown around heaven and hell. Im neither supporting nor condemning these statements from people. What I have noticed is that none of these who claim to have these experiences [from those I have read about], promote the idea of simply professing faith, or belief in the resurrection etc and you will go to heaven.
Invariably they all say that Jesus told them that they must live righteously, stop sinning, and do good works. These are typical Christians who have been brainwashed with the doctrine of "once saved always saved". It seems that this experience removed that doctrine has replaced it with the requirement to live righteously and do good works, otherwise hell awaits them.
Interesting.
@rookie54 saidDefinitely. What is interesting about these experiences is that it does not appear to be a delusion coming out of their own mind.
i like anecdotes that explain everything the way i already knew it to be
- the Jesus they see bears no resemblance to the typical [false] portrayal of him.
- the teachings, words of Christ when they meet, are alien to their doctrine, actually contrary to their church teachings.
- there is no angel with wings, devil with horns etc etc.
@rajk999 saidProbably just more of the usual ego-inflation, scamming, and outright psychosis one sometimes finds among the humans of Earth.

@rajk999 saidAre you referring to near-death experiences?

@kevin-eleven saidActually that what you described is practiced by many of leaders and pastors of churches these days. These are ordinary people. I listed a few reasons above why I think these may not be delusional. A delusion comes from what is already inside your head. These experiences are not based on what the person already believe.

@rajk999 saidNot even dying to oneself?
No. These have nothing to do with dying.
One way, perhaps, to understand and practice what seems to be a primary teaching of Christianity (apparently) is to lay down the story of oneself for the sake of others, especially if that story is a prideful and self-centered fiction.
At a certain point the wise person might see that such a fiction is not self-created, but is more of an accidental confluence and occurrence of much greater forces.
@suzianne saidHmm, maybe not so especially. Lot of immodest political power-mongering "Christians" out there, and unfortunately, at the individual level, it seems there are a lot of proud "Christians" -- controlling, arrogant, with a sense of superiority.
Especially in forums like this.
But people also flower as far as they naturally can, and that's okay, although of course sometimes we have to watch out for some of them. 😉
@divegeester saidYou seem to be the reason for that.
You seem to have a very low opinion of this community.
@kevin-eleven saidIt seems unfair to generalise an entire community due to one person’s behaviour.

@rajk999 saidWhich "they"? Can you provide some references, please?
