I am wondering whether you actually thought.

Why is the origin of something or our lack of clear knowledge of those origins reason enough to not rant on about it?
And how can something immortal not have somewhere to go? Surely if it is immortal it will exist somewhere at all future times and will therefore have somewhere to go almost by definition, unless you mean they will eternally stay in one place. Still, I don't see why it is foolish to rant on about them.

What I find foolish when it comes to ranting on about immortal souls is when the ranter refuses to explain what a soul actually is nor consider all the implications.
In fact I find that simply asking 'what is a soul?' usually ends the ranting very very quickly - because they would rather not think about it.
