A senior Hamas official in Gaza has called on Palestinians in the diaspora to “slaughter Jews” around the world.
"During a speech at Friday’s so-called March of the Return protests, Fathi Hamad warned that if the blockade of Gaza, imposed by Israel and Egypt for security reasons, is not lifted by July 19, “every Jew on the planet” should be killed."

Do I hold that against Christianity broadly and the Christians I know? No, I don't.
Do I hold the hopes and plans of "a senior Hamas official in Gaza" against Islam or against my Muslim neighbours? No, I don't.
Believing every Jew on the planet should be killed is such an utterly terrible thing.
I wonder how exactly one arrives at a desire like that: to what degree is it the actual religion itself of the person with the genocidal wish, and to what degree is it about politics and political posturing, and [to that end] to what degree it is simply vicious hyberbole [and how much traction does it really have or is it seen as a kind of metaphor for anger], and to what degree is it a visceral reaction to the chronic experience of being brutalized and treated unjustly.
Whatever the truth of the matter, I don't think your senior Hamas official in Gaza makes it seem like Islam is "the religion of peace". Certainly not. I think you'd have to look at other aspects of the religion and the people who adhere to it to get an insight into the scriptural basis for claiming it is "the religion of peace". This guy wanting to slaughter all the Jews around the world is not it.

Religion has the ability to bring out the worst in people. Like already said there are some people [all religions included] who are naturally inclined towards evil [they are called extremists] and given the right environment that desire to commit such evil will be satisfied.
