Mahatma did his own writings.
Jesus didn't write anything. Everything we know from Jesus is second hand stories, and hearssay. Nothing more.

We have His words.

Would it make any difference to you if there were writings attributed to Jesus?

We don't even know if he could write at all.
Hearsay doesn't merit worship.

Jesus merits worship because of who He is.

We know Jesus could read. Why would you question whether or not He could write?

Because he didn't write anything. As my granddaughter, but she is three.
"Because who he is", yes, this is your religion.

I don't think there is any conflict between Christ and Gandhi. When Gandhi passed the Vatican said that he was a messenger of Christian Truths. Gandhi was an extreme admirer of Jesus Christ and also of St. Theresa of Avila, a famous Catholic saint.

Tributes to Gandhi:

As far as Christianity being a myth....that has become a kind of popular notion, but even the secular historians really do not believe that. They may think that Christ was not a saint, but they indeed recognize the existence of a Christian sect diverting from Judaism..and at the time it is supposed to have occurred.

here's one site that references a few of the Roman and period sources:
