Okay, hold on.

What's the "religious message" in E.T.?

I mean, seriously, I must've somehow missed it.

Okay, okay, let me try this...

Cool Hand Luke?

Might not there be a spiritual message in "ET"?

Why would Ghost of a Duke need to find a "religious message" in it?

Why would he?

Well, gee, I dunno.

Didn't you ask for "non-religious or not religion-focussed films with [nevertheless] strong religious or spiritual messages"?

Then he nominated ET.

Just asking what "religious or spiritual message" he found in it.

Geez, don't you read your own OPs?

"I'll be right here."

(The specified criteria was a religious or spiritual message).

''E.T.'' is a delightful film on all counts. As a writer on religious subjects, though, I was struck by the number of parallels between this modern science-fantasy film and the story of Christ. I don't think I'm a religious fanatic. Has anyone else noticed the similarities - intentional or unintentional?'

Do you mean in a "You're not alone", or a "You've got a friend in me" kind of way?

Ok, an edit.

We're cross-posting. Let me see the link.

Done. Okay, I see the connections. I'll allow it. (lol)

It's been a while since I've seen the movie. I do remember the bits in the article, however.

In retrospect, well-done.

I think the "I'll be right here" sequence of the film was much more powerful than that, and really quite spiritual.

Before seeing the link provided, I also thought of the parallels of ET being resurrected from the dead and the miraculous acts as having religious connotations.

My OP does not seek only films with "religious messages". It explicitly elicits nominations of films with "spiritual messages" too. Read it again.

That is correct. People need not restrict themselves to only "religious messages".

I don't need to read it again to understand you're being pretentious, or to reject that pretentiousness.

No one is. Stop reaching.
