As some of you may be aware, underground comic legend, R. Crumb, has done an illustrated version of the Book of Genesis. I got a copy of it for Christmas (appropriately enough) and have to say it's quite a feat. 'All 50 chapters' with 'nothing left out' as the cover boasts. An enormous amount of work went into the illustrations, which are all rendered in R. Crumb's trademark style. Well worth a look.

Thanks for that, I'll have to keep an eye out now.

R. Crumb's drawing style gives a whole new meaning to "Golden Calves". Amiright?!

Yeah, and he doesn't deviate from form here. Eve (and all the female characters) pretty much fit the typical R. Crumb proportions. But I guess they would have been from heartier stock back then. You probably wouldn't have seen too many runway model waifs in ancient Israel. It's actually refreshing to see a whole host of characters that don't conform to the idealized 21st century form of beauty.

You can see the cover (with Adam, Eve, and God) here:

I would have guessed that Eve was a blond.

I would have thought that Eve was black and black haired. The first humans came from Africa, according to solid science.

Are you suggesting Eve was of Nordic origin?

I doubt anyone from Jewish mythology was conceived of as blond.

Priceless!

I guess you mean really blonde ... just like Jesus.

(I bet she spoke English too!)
