As some of you may be aware, underground comic legend, R. Crumb, has done an illustrated version of the Book of Genesis. I got a copy of it for Christmas (appropriately enough) and have to say it's quite a feat. 'All 50 chapters' with 'nothing left out' as the cover boasts. An enormous amount of work went into the illustrations, which are all rendered in R. Crumb's trademark style. Well worth a look.

But I guess they would have been from heartier stock back then. You probably wouldn't have seen too many runway model waifs in ancient Israel. It's actually refreshing to see a whole host of characters that don't conform to the idealized 21st century form of beauty.
