yes i keep sunday as a holy day.. i think it should be a day to keep the faith and spend time with your family. sadly i look around and most view it as a day to get extra wages, or a normal day to go shopping.
So why would you be surprised or concerned that that majority chooses not to waste a day every week
worshiping a god they don't believe in?

Right now my job requires me to work every other weekend. It is mandatory. The extra wages are nice, but I would rather be home.

Are there any theists here who keep the Sabbath or a Sabbath or any particular day as more holy than any other?
If so, why and in what way do you keep it holy?
Romans 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
Mark 3:4 And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.
Originally posted by Rajk999its my belief six days work is your priority, but by family i mean mother, sisters, brothers, etc, not just children, which would be with you in the same home.
Is it the case that you dont 'keep the faith' [whatever you mean by that], or dont spend time with your family on the other six days of the week ?
keep the faith is worship god and yes i do. thankfuly ive had jobs at times i could do this. Unlike some who have jobs where you work some weekends,

And has been mentioned it is a day to share with the family and even better to do that also within a spiritual context.

Originally posted by divegeesterIt is my view that the Sabbath was created for man, not the other way around. At the time the Sabbath was made a Mosaic law, men were basically slaves throughout the world working 24/7. I would even go further to say that if it had not been for the Mosaic law of recognizing the Sabbath, we may not have the "weekend" in modern times.

For me, it is not the specific day that is holy, it is the recognition that even God needed a "day of rest", so man should as well. It is a time of reflection and a break from the curse of sin which makes us slave away the 6 other days.

The ten commandments no longer apply?
BUT they are still very active and should be in all our decisions in life as we know from those laws God's rules and opinions and principles that should govern our lifes each day.
