Why do shamelessly dishonest people start threads, asking questions the answers to which they already know, under the pretense of wanting to find out what others think, when in fact all that they are after is another chance to proclaim to people that their beliefs are superior and correct and inspired by God, and along the way would refuse to answer simple questions which others will ask and refuse to accept that there can be acceptable alternative explanations. Why do we even bother to participate in these threads with these SD people? Why?

They need to constantly tell others of their alleged superiority. They are not confident enough to believe that quietly.

You know how there are some insecure loud mouth boasters [like the JWs], and there are some confidently quiet strong types.

The SD people you refer to are sad little nobodies whose life is so unbelievably empty that they need to puff themselves up with a false sense of self-importance so that their pathetically low self-confidence can be raised one notch. Why do I always respond to these people's threads? Maybe because I am a sad little nobody whose life is so unbelievably empty that I need to puff myself up with a false sense of self-importance so that my pathetically low self-confidence can be raised one notch.

A symbiotic relationship then. 🙂 So its all good.
The only difference is that one group is SD and the other is not.
