Actually people make money off religion everywhere in the world.

If you have an opinion that you desperately want to be true but are doubtful about then you are likely to buy any book purporting to support your position. Other people take advantage of that. Books that say its OK to be fat sell like hot cakes.

Is there something written saying I'm a terrific chess player? I'd buy that one.

Send me US$500 and I'll send you a whole book on the subject. For US$50 I'll send you a smart glossy certificate proving your authenticity as a terrific chess player and for US$5 I'll give you some really nice compliments via email and maybe even let you beat me a couple of times at chess.

So that's how you feel about your religion, eh? You must donate a lot to the Church trying to buy your way into God's good graces.
