Why believe that there is a God at all? My answer is that to suppose that there is a God explains why there is a world at all; why there are the scientific laws there are; why animals and then human beings have evolved; why humans have the opportunity to mould their characters and those of their fellow humans for good or ill and to change the environment in which we live; why we have the well-authenticated account of Christ's life, death and resurrection; why throughout the centuries men have had the apparent experience of being in touch with and guided by God; and so much else. In fact, the hypothesis of the existence of God makes sense of the whole of our experience, and it does so better than any other explanation which can be put forward, and that is the grounds for believing it to be true. This paper seeks to justify this answer; it presents in summary arguments given in more detailed form in my book The Existence of God,[1] and seeks to rebut criticisms of those arguments given in J.L. Mackie's book The Miracle of Theism.[2]

If we're going to make up answers to unanswerable questions, I think we could do a whole lot better than Christianity.

That's what the socialists and communists, the fascists and the liberals also thought ... but look and shiver.

Besides I do not think the question of "Is there a God" is unanswerable. See Swinburne.

In my religion TWATTISM the Big Bang was created by a fanny fart from the goddess Pamela. I know this because she spoke to me in a dream and there is supporting evidence from Science (there was a Big Bang)

Pamela created the conditions for evolution such that women would evolve into her image and all creation would be through the fanny. (Again Science backs me up on this)

Men were created in Pamela's image with an extension in the shape of Her favourite toy. (Demonstrably true)

Men lost their breasts in the Garden of Edam when they tasted cow's milk against Pamelas command. Ever since they have been condemned to lusting after their lost assetts. (Again obviously true)

All this I can prove.

PS I am going to write this all down in a book so then I can reference the book to prove my religion when arguing with non-believers.
