Not sure what was the exact context of RJ's claim, but I disagree for many reasons with the claim on the face of it. As a simple example, one cannot know something contrary to fact since one cannot know a false proposition; but there is often "need" or utility to engage in counterfactual thinking.

Logical contradiction excepted, it seems difficult to know a priori what exactly we cannot know.

Maybe. Depends on context, I wouldn't waste my time attempting to visualize infiniti but in whatever context Mr. Hinds used it is probably wrong.
