I would like to ask members to of the congregation come forward to the altar and lay their hands upon this forum and invite the Holy Spirit to come and revive these once vibrant and interesting discussions. Ask God to remove the virus... the disease... the CANCER that plagues this young forum and to replace with it with His glory... His love... His LIFE!
PRAISE JESUS! I feel Him now in my bones. You are alive, O Lord! Come now and deliver us! Fill us with your POWER and SAVE THIS FORUM!

I sense that a resurrection (reincarnation?) is just around the corner…

HEY Wibbers! My man. I am doin' well, as always. You?
All looks well around these parts. Looks like you've kept things under control. I'm glad to see you're still here!
I'm gonna go lay hands on the altar now and see what happens.
Ooooh that's nice....

But for extended features, such as the forums, I think having to subscribe to have access gives people more of an incentive to support the site economically. The more people support the site economically, the more the site can be. (I would, however, support allowing non-subscribers access to the whole thing for a limited time, to decide if they want to subscribe, if the added features seemed to them to be worth the cost.)
Why?
When there comes a time that I cannot afford to pay (always a possibility), I won't expect to have access to the extended features of the site.
With all that said, 1) Russ can run the site the way he wants (and he’s the one who has to worry about the economics), and 2) it’s really not a big deal with me, just my opinion, subject to change in the face of counter-arguments.
