It came to my attention the other day that there is a crisis that is gripping our neighbor to the south, Venezuela. You can find information on the crisis anywhere you look on the internet, you only need to look. The country is in decline politically, morally, financially, and perhaps spiritually (not sure about that one). For 2016 the link to the article below puts inflation at triple digits and for 2017 inflation is estimated to be four digits, maddening!

I find this distressing and wonder if it is so with others here? This post is not meant to be a political argument, but an inquiry into what folks think on a spiritual level and what the solutions may be? ideas?

Not really, we have very little ties with them. Venezuela turned to communism with Chavex who promised the masses that properly would be taken from the landowners and given to them. That his how he came into power. He carried out his promise and the electorate were elated, but anyone with an elementary knowledge of economics or some common sense would know that that is the road to poverty.. The people made their communist bed, they have to sleep on it.

The spiritual element is very strong with most people. To throw aside the need for it is unwise.

The material world has tried for years to push spiritual concepts aside for years, and yet people of all cultures still seek something.

An example i have, a little different. Here in America there is a strong push for people to cherish and vote for animal rights. Dogs, cats etc. I told a lady one day, we have to cherish our unborn children first.

To me it is both a physical and spiritual thing

Wait....wut?

I thought capitalism was the source of all evil. You are telling me that the socialist tyrant Chavez led his country to this?

Ahhh, no. Just pointing out the fact that the country is on the verge of starving, don't care about who brought it to that point. Does it matter?

The solution to poverty depends on the root cause of it.

Giving food to the poor is todays solution. I though you would prefer to discuss tomorrows solution.
