In karate, my group is known in japanese as the "nihon karatedo kyokai".

"Kyokai" literally translated means "group" or more closely "church". Does that mean that practicing karate is a religious endeavour to you?


This group does not have ministers, or any type of heirarchal structure as far as I can see. No gods, no power base, no graven idols, no buildings. Nothing. It's just a website. Get over it.

are graven idols a requirement in your mind? ...because lots of religions don't have those either.

Nope. Not graven idols. However, for it to be a religion it requires a god of some type.

Hey, that could be useful. Mail order minister.

When my wife and I got married, because we didn't want a priest, we had to hunt down some old, retired judge to perform the ceremony. If we had some mail order atheist ministers around things would have been much easier. Heck, for only $15 bucks maybe I should get one myself. It would be good for a laugh, if nothing else.

Hey, as I recall I offered to perform a ceremony for you two. I am always looking for an opportunity to make my tent bigger.
