Not sure about the implications for the world, but I would personally be devastated and outraged. The existence of this being could potentially make the barbaric events of the bible real and that would mean we live in a world that is dominated by a truly evil being.

It depends on what its true personality is. Hard to guess that from what has been written so far.

Why should it be too late? Why not hang out here for a few months and convince as many people as possible?

Well your correct in one way. Humans could never see God and live to tell about it.. Exodus 33:20.

Well ya know he pretty much showed himself when parting the Red Sea and raining manna down from heaven and creating a pillar of fire for the Israelites to lead them an night etc, and it did not seem to do them much good in terms of increasing their faith. Then he sent his Son to earth and said that if you see me you have seen the Father and then he healed the sick and raised the dead and then they nailed him to a cross, so I'm not sure that the whole seeing is believing has any relavency whatsoever.

Unfortunently when the heart is hard and doesn't want to believe, then there is probably not much that could change that.
