Jesus performed miracles in front of crowds of people, the Apostles performed miracles in front non-believes, and even Old Testament figures like Elijah performed miracles in front of non-believers.

So why aren't there miracles today?

Yes, I know there are "testimonies" of miracles; but why aren't they being performed in front of non-believers like in Biblical times?

Please try to be more appreciative that you, and all that is, exist in the first place.

Including disease, pestilence, famine, hunger, pain, sadness, rape, violence, natural disasters, parasites, war, theft, hate, bigotry, fear, mental illness, physical deformities.....

Thank you Lord, for all you've given us.

seventeen times a miracle
each time the texas wind lifts the shack up,
straining against the 50 yr olde straps
and drops her right back on the blocks
that counts

Miracles were provided to add credibility to prophets, i.e., to certify their divine inspiration. The age of prophecy is over; the Church declared this to be official doctrine some centuries ago. Since there is no need for any supplemental prophecies, there is no need for miracles to certify the divine inspiration of any recent would-be prophet. All that remains is for the prophecy already given to be fulfilled.

"the Church declared this to be official doctrine some centuries ago"

Are there any Biblical texts to support this doctrine?

Wouldn't that be a request for an appeal to authority? And why Biblical texts in particular?

Is this something you believe?

This is the passage used to support that doctrine:

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. (1 Corinthians 13:8-10 KJV)

I think the issue of miracles, prophesying, speaking in tongues is grossly overstated by some churches.

For what it's worth, maybe the OP proposition should have been worded "Jesus is said to have performed miracles... the Apostles are said to have performed miracles..." etc. 🙂

Various figures in numerous religions back in the day are said to have performed miracles.

I endorse this post.

I was about to post something similar.

We are too close to the end times to suggest that prophecy and miracles will even do any good.
