@gertrude saidFor some religionists, their beliefs do seem to turn into reasons to hate adherents of other faiths and people with no religious faith. But people's religious beliefs are not "one big" anything. There is profound diversity which cannot be painted with just the one brush.

@mchill saidWell, if you find that you're not able to believe, then you perish.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16
Please explain to us where the "hate" is here?
I'm not saying that's "hate", but for some people, it's difficult to believe in things over 2,000 years old, especially because there's been disputes about the details ever since.

@mchill saidTBH it sounds psychotic or like the tagline for a horror movie.

HOWEVER, given the Jewish basis for the Christian religion, I would say that instead of taking that passage at face value, we should turn it over to examine its nuances and seeming contradictions, as Jews would have done if this were part of their mainline tradition.

@gertrude saidFunny how people often trot out some etymology re: religion being a way to connect everything back together, when in practice it's usually an excuse for division and setting people apart from one another.
it's one big hate fest
Prior to the parochial verbiage and religio-political spats of Earth, things were and continue to be thoroughly connected in every way.
@divegeester saidI would have led with filicide before escalating, but okay.
Torturing billions of people forever because you failed to convince them you exist.
