The problem with holding the games in England is that the English want it on the cheap. They should've given it to Edinburgh - at least the Scots are straightforward enough to either be too much of a bunch of misers to want to do it at all, or see a good marketing opportunity and do it right. None of your Southern Jessie complaining and skiving with them.

We have to wait and see, it's not all about money, if tastefully done the money won't matter, we can do a good Olympics for £9bn, my concern is it's all been far too Blue Peter so far, bubblegum graphics and scruffy dancing, candyfloss and carrier bags... the commendable approach to all-inclusiveness forgot to include any style. I'm ALL for giving people opportunities but can we really let college students and drama majors take over the design of such an important event.

So, I'm behind the games 100% but DREAD the 80s fashion statement it will probably make.

How about hosting a massive earthquake, and breaking off into the Atlantic ocean? Id pay 20 billion for that.

This hideous logo cost £400,000: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/olympics_2012/6718243.stm

I'm assuming most of the money was spent on a time machine to pilfer it from 1982.

I say send them to Bagdad!!

It will provide a whole other source of interest in watching the games. I can just imagine the guy with the torch dodging car boms and sniper fire as he makes his way into the stadium.....that is if he makes it all.

Let the games begin!!

I also hear that Stock, Aitken and Waterman will be carrying the flame at the opening ceremony.
