    its hard to say i know for sure i did 10 miles to work and back and 14 to the school and back. i didn't take direct routes though i zigzagged there so i'd hit the hardest hills.

    I think calories burned in cycling relates to power generated... therefore it'd be directly proportional to the your speed over the distance covered in that duration.

    that is true. this summer i'm going to the beach and it has lots of hills. i want to go up one of the hills and see if i can make it. i think i'm going to try 30 miles uphill ;-)
