After watching the Penguins and Crosby win in the outdoor match I am all for playing more games outdoors. I bet the beer tasted better also being outdoors.

It's a cheap novelty to grab attention for a sport that is dying in the states. The first one featured two Canadian teams and it seemed to be more genuine, but even then it's a cheesy way of deciding who gets awarded two points...

I know if my Leafs lost in an outdoor game and we missed the playoffs again by one point I'd be angry, but then again there's at least a million other reaons why we'd miss playoffs!

I watched it and I liked it. I thought it was a great idea. 70,000 people in attendance.

Buffalo was a great choice for the game. The fans there love their hockey and have no aversions to watching sports in bleak, blizzardy weather. Hopefully they'll bring a game to Toronto soon...

Sure it's a cheesy way to expand the sport. It's dying because they move teams to areas where there isn't any snow or cold weather (Florida, Phoenix, Anaheim etc.) I love the game because of my travels into Canada. I would have enjoyed being present in that outdoor game. I guess I wouldn't have been alone seeing there was 70,000 fans also present. I sure would have slammed a few beers back enjoying the game.

I'm thinking you guys should replace "cheezy" with "novel". I hope they do more of it. I gave up on the NFL. I'm going to get into the NHL now.

OK. It was a novel way to play a game. I also would like to see more of them.

The only thing to save the game is to get rid of a bunch of teams in the US south and west coast. They're just aren't enough good players around so that each team can play at a high skill level. Too many crap players mean teams play defense and trap to make up for the lack of skill.

Contraction will never happen even though the game would zoom into the stratosphere if it did.

Alternatively, I think we should move into a form of what english soccer has. The bottom 3 teams in the NHL get bumped down to the AHL and the top 3 AHL teams get bumped up to the NHL.

Gary Bettman destroyed hockey with his unending expansion of the league and his ridiculous Bigger is Better philosophy.

Not a big hockey fan, but I stopped flipping to watch a few mintues because the game was played outside. Pretty cool marketing scheme, the throw back unis were a nice touch as well.

Darv mastrubates to hockey. That and X-box. He'll mastrubate and play X-box for 7 hours a day. That's too much. Five, six hours tops.

He may be, but he takes his orders from the owners of the league. If they didn't like and agree with what he was doing, they'd get rid of him. The fact that they haven't should tell what the whole purpose of all this "turmoil" has been about for the last 5 years.

It's all about getting the selling price of the teams higher. Everything else is secondary and irrelevant.

Well you can't do that either. Look who has won the Cup in the last 10 years? Mostly Southern teams.
