So, the best cricket player alive and quite possibly the best to ever play the game, becomes only the the fourth player in the history of cricket to get to this amazing milestone.
Not only does he do it the quickest in terms of tests played (http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/records/444566.html), he also has the best average of the elite batsmen who have scored more than 10,000 runs (http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/records/223646.html).
With all the other batsmen around him having retired, he should easily get to the number 2 position, although Sachin's amazing records are probably safe 😛
What an amazing player.
He is still a more than decent 4th seamer in the SA side, and 30th in all time wicket takers in tests, with 282 scalps, at an average of 32.5 and a strike rate of 68.9.
Not really fireworks, but still on par with more than a few specialist bowlers in the rankings above him.
Not only is he one of the top 10 batsmen and one of top 3 all rounders test cricket has ever seen - Factor in his great all round form in all the shorter versions of the game too and it's easy to see why he is the greatest all round cricketer to ever play the game.
Too bad human nature dictates that he will never be considered an absolute legend until he finally retires, but there are luckily many knowledgeable cricket fans like me who can recognize his absolute greatness.
