What a sad day for baseball. First we lose Harry Kalas, and now we lose one of the really colorful players of the 70's. Bird was a true character. Too bad his career ended so early due to injury. Now at 54 he gets killed working on his truck, from what I hear. I still remember him smoothing the dirt of the mound by hand and seeing him talk to the baseball. He was never boring to watch.

Certainly the Bird was a fun upbeat guy. Sad to hear the news.
