He transformed Villarreal, in 5 years, from an unknown club to a local league contender and a rising name in the Champions League.

Now he goes to Madrid, as part of the restructuring plan of the famous Florentino, the man who created the 'galactic team' years ago.

What do you think it will happen with Real Madrid? Will it work?

Moreover: can a team full of stars work for long? They have the cash, and they will buy in the current market.

I think all you have to do is look at Barcelona to see a team of stars can win.

Mmmhhh... my fault, really, I meant: stars hired as such.

I know what you mean, but I think Barcelona made most of the stars it has now.

Who were Messi, Et'o, Xavi, or Iniesta before Barcelona?

When Madrid bought Figo, Zidane, etc. they were already stars.

you are correct- and lets not forget the Figo/Zidane/roberto carlos etc squad was not as dominate as everyone thought they would be.

paper-talk now of Kaka, Ribary and Ronaldo all being shortlisted to come to Real in the next few months-

Yeah, the rumors are strong. And I keep wondering: will it work?

It will be an exciting season at european level, I think.

They won the Champions League. Not too shabby, I guess.

IMO, that's the problem with buying lots of stars.

If it works, the gaze fades rapidly, eaten by a whirlwind of politics, paparazzi, etc.
