I was originally from Sacramento California but I now live just south of Seattle. I think it is a shame but most people here seem not to really care about the Sonics leaving. I think it may be a matter of people not wanting to fund a new arena. I can't really blame people either. The new stadiums here in Seattle went up against the peoples will. There where rumors that the Maloofs wanted to move the Kings everyone who cared in Sacramento was up in arms don't see that with the Sonics.

I mean the Supersonics haven't even been FANTASTIC so I can see why people don't want to fund a new stadium. I mean look what happened to Vancouver when the decided to relocate, they still suck but I feel they might actually have a good team in the next couple years if they draft right.

Originally posted by menace71It's very similar to Indianapolis. A lot of people here feel that the RCA Dome is a great stadium. Me, I think it's a perfectly nice place to play. RCA hasn't even been completely paid for yet as it's barely 20 years old. But, people can't watch the game when ordering a hot dog so they have to build a new one. Plus, the city needs the land the dome is on to expand the convention center.
No argument from me 🙂 Get taxed so much as it is. King county is bad LOL

What makes this bad is that the property taxes in Marion County (Indianapolis) jumped a lot, when most of the fans that can afford tickets live in surrounding counties and aren't affected much by the taxes. Plus, it's the third stadium built in the city in the last 15 years (Victory Field is a great place to watch baseball--AAA Indians, and Conseco Fieldhouse is a super-fancy bad place to watch anything.)
One main difference to the Sonics, though, is that the Colts were winning for quite a while when they asked and threatened to leave town. If they were losing, I'm sure there would be not as much support for them as at the time the Pacers were pretty good and all support went in that direction.
