The basic problem with American sports is that they suck.

    Full stop. End of debate.

when you think of countires that produce great athletes there are several that come to mind.

Certainly the USA,.... Brazil, Kenya, Argentina, most of the former Yugoslavia, Nigeria

But, it would be fair to say that a vast majority of the great athletes of the 20th century were Americans and an even larger number trained or played there at some time.

There are many great Athletes from all countries. It shouldn't matter what Country produces the most or of what variety. An Athlete just loves to compete. I only wish the fans of these sports would respect each other the way a true Athlete does. It's funny to me how a sporting event can bring out the worst in people as apposed to the best. We want our favorite athletes and teams to win, and it is fun to cheer for your team but to jeer the opposing athletes just doesn't seem right, because when it is all said and done it is supposed to be entertainment and just a game to enjoy.

    Americans just don't get it.

Europe doesn't (and will never) consider itself as a team because we are individual countries, we don't support each other, the English would rarely ever want Germans, Italians, Spanish and especially the French to win anything, why should we?
I mean the English saved the French in WW2 and what thanks do we ever get, I've had too many vodkas so forgive me if I get carried away.

So the only real 'World Sports' are sports that are played by each individual country.

    So world sports are:-
Football (thats soccer to you Americans) BY FAR THE MOST POPULAR WOLD SPORT
    Boxing
    Golf
    F1
    Tennis

    Games like:
    American Football
    Basketball
    Ice Hockey
    Baseball
All these sports mean virtually nothing to the rest of the world and are meaningless in 'world' terms.

    So America:
Footall/Soccer : You suck big time at this world sport the biggest, most supported and best sport there is
Boxing : Ameican PPV has ruined the sport, still the Canadian Lenox Lewis beat up all the Americans
Golf: America still has the best playes
F1: America has no presance, even Nigel Mansell when a has been won in American Indy at the 1st attempt
Tennis: The majority of the best players are European, but a Spaniard winning means nothing to an English man.

So basically America, you need to wake up and realise that your sporting presance in world terms is not that big, the rest of the world doesn't like your made for TV franchise entertainment events.

Basketball is easily the one of the World's top 5 most popular sports, it's just never picked up here in the UK.

    Dream on.

I love watching Basketball and go to many games at the Staples Centre to watch the Lakers and Clippers.

But I can tell you, Basketball is a minor sport just about everywhere outside of America. FULL STOP.

NOBODY IN ENGLAND HAS EVER HEARD OF:-
    Iverson
    Le Bron James
    Miller
    Nash
    Barkley
    Duncan

What does that tell you about Basketball?

There is no world Basketball competition...................

If England does not have a team/players of note, then its not a world sport.
Wow, I must have had too much to drink to say that, still its true.

    Do you understand 'World Sport'.
There is no world basketball event.

THERE IS NO WORLD BASKETBALL EVENT SO WHY IS IT A WORLD SPORT?

Are you telling me that Europeans stay up until 3.00am to watch a NBA game?

That's right, just because you haven't seen the Basketball Word Championship, it doesn't exist. Great thinking there, Brains! Try doing some research before shooting your moronic mouth off next time.

Ok, lets prove you're argument wrong then.

Seeing as you are so cleaver show me the world viewing figures for:-

The world cup (no need to mention the sport),
    A heavy weight boxing match,
    A major golf event,
    A major Tennis event,
    A F1 race.

What are the viewing figures for FIBA.

I live in America and follow NBA and watch many games live.
Have you ever seen an NBA game live?

I have never seen the FIBA on American TV ever.

A little surprising for a TOP 5 WORLD EVENT.

Has the FIBA ever had a PPV event?

Answer the facts, I suspect that silence is golden as they say.

No chance, Spanky. You're the one who's already stated that:

If YOU want statistics to back up your unfounded opinion, then YOU can go waste you 'precious' drinking time trawling through sites looking them.

As far as the rest of your asinine questions go; the FIBA World Championship is broadcasted worldwide, you can get it PPV and I have seen a live NBA game.

Thanks, you have provided all the facts I need.

The FIBA is representitive of Basketball in world terms.

It is a top 5 event, when you add a 0 on the end and make it the number 50.

    Enough said.

Now whats the best World Vodka:
Grey Goose, Chopin, Belvedere or Smirnof?
