As a Hall of Fame fighter who has contributed so much to the sport, he really deserved to cash out. Other factors are the the HW division was relatively weak when he came out of retirement. The UFC needed a better champion than Tim Sylvia. Now with the fall of Pride the UFC is raking in most of the top fighters and the HW division is becoming stacked. Which is great for Randy, because he loves to fight. Plus since going through a divorce recently he has more time to focus on MMA.
i thought he retired about 12 months back?
Anyway he's still a great fighter. It's not like a lot of guys that come out of retirement and just can't hack it anymore. So we all win by having Randy around fighting.
Great job Randy Couture. Here's to the UFC getting Fedor Emelianenko to sign. I'd love to see that fight!
