Halloween gambit tourney

A thread in the chess forum got me intrested in this gambit.Has there been such a tourney yet?If not,can we have one,please?

Halloween gambit: 1.e4,e5 2.Nf3,Nc6 3.Nc3,Nf6 4.Nxe5

Funny, just a few days ago I read about this opening on Tim Krabbe's chess pages, there was mentioned a correspondence Halloween thematic tournament and I immediately thought that it would be cool to have one here. Unfortunately I forgot to post the idea. Fortunately someone else has done it. 🙂

To my knowledge I have never played the Halloween Gambit opening or even playe against it, I think tourneys dedicated to different openings would be great for study and practise purposes.
I would defo enter this tourney if it got setup

How do we ask for it?Message russ or chrismo?

Ok, this is definitely not my style of chess, but I must admit after doing a little study on the Halloween Gambit it does seem like fun.

So how would this work? I'm assuming it would start with a set piece game after 4.Nxe5 with black to move. All set piece games are unrated though right? But since it's a tourney would that change things?

Either way, it seems rather interesting and completely unsound. OTB or in blitz I would imagine you could throw someone into shock with it. I'm not so sure about it in correspondence chess. But hey, I'm up for it too since there seems to be some interest.

There have been thematic tourneys before.Were they rated?

At least the thematic tourneys I have taken part (Dutch and Milner-Barry) were rated, so I suppose they all are..

Oh, 3 days t/o, I was expecting 7 days like I think most thematic tourneys have had, I'm not sure if I'm able to play that fast 😕

I have just had a look at this tourney, if I am reading this right the tourney is wrong. The board position is correct but it states white to move, surely it is black to move. Have I got this correct or am I just a numpty?

You are right, it's wrong.
