The new tournament lower is a very open affair and is highly enjoyable. We have several players over the max rating joined which means they dont belong there in all fairness to the rest of us no hopers. I like to take on all comers in any other games but it would be great to have a chance with people of my own ability. Is there anyway of capping the limit so people not supposed to be there cant enter ???😕 the all versus all is the best tournament by far so far i have played.
The problem is that people's ratings change - people that are within the allowed rating limit when they join a tournament may win a few matches the next day and have their rating go over that limit with them still in the tournament.
Also, while the tournament is going on, people's ratings are bound to change, and it is almost certain that some people will end up going over the entrance limit.
However, you are prevented from joining a tournament if your rating is higher than the limit at the time when you try to join.

I also love the all vs all formula,maybe the cut should be lowered at 1200/1250.
I want to specify I not wanted to bother C.Cat or other players,I'm only stating this strange thing.All opinions will be welcome.
i think it would be easy to generate a new statistic for players: their highest ever rating (HER).
the entry could then be based on HER less than the cap for the tournament.
(as i have said before HER should not be generated while a player is still provisional.)
- and russ while you are at it, i have heaps of other chores for you to do - wash dishes, vacuuming, etc. 😀
It's a problem difficult to solve. I.e. : if tournament are <1600 and >1600 and i am 1580 i can join only to the lower. If i become a 1600> player i cannot play the lower tornament but can be that the highter is now closed because full, so i cannot play any tournamnet. Is it right?
I understand that is a problem. a solution could be that tournament are closed to people with less than 50 matches (generally rating is the right after so many games), but is it right? I don't know. I think that what's happening now is still the best.

I say set limits but allow a certain amount of leeway in either direction...Like 50 points or whatever...That would more or less solve the majority of problems that seem to arise...But if it's a 1150 max tourney and there are people in there with 1250 then I don't know...It doesn't seem to me like they belong in thattournament...I personally don't care either way...I've beaten 1300's and lost to 900's so I'm not sure it makes that big of a difference...
