Kudos to you, RB; you've won against people about your rating. Most OTB tournaments are broken up into bands and those who win their bands win prizes, including at major events rather large amounts of cash. I hope you continue to improve your skills in this great process of thought that is called chess; perhaps increased skill in this area of thought will help develop your obviously limited thinking skills in other areas.

Maybe not to you... those among us with limited chess ability have to take what they can get. Obviously, it doesn't mean much if you play in lower bands than your actual ability, but if you win and are still in that rating band, then it does mean something!

Yes congrats RBHill for winning a tournament that started almost two years ago, but is still being compared to you current rating.

Maybe when entering those tournaments he thought "hey, i might have a chance at winning this one" and so worked hard for it. Corresponding to a rating rise. Thats what i did (halloween banded A 0 - 1299, i believe). You are so quick to cast judgement it astonishes me. Think how you would feel if people better than you started dumping on you and belittling your achievements as worthless compared to their win at a higher skill level. Ridiculous.

RBHill i think you should be proud and rightly so.
