As a paying provisionally rated player I can't play tourneys...OK fine...
but why is there a x-mas tourney for starless(non-paying) players?

How about a tourney for us paying P people!

Um, there are plenty of provisional players in tournaments. You sure you weren't trying to enter something that was already full, or had rating limits?

How about a tourney for us paying P people!

You can play in all tournaments for subscribers APART from banded tournies.

This was brought about because provisional newbies were joining 1200-1400 banded tournaments, even though their true rating levelled off at 1800+. It was a good modification to the site, cos players were pretty much guaranteed to be playing other players at their own level.

Unfortunately for you, you seem to have joined at a time when the majority of the tournies being offered are banded.
