    How about a pirc thematic?
    1.e4 d6 2.d4 Nf6 3.Nc3 g6
This is something I would really like to have.

    I'd rather have a Robatsch 1. e4 g6 but a Pirc would be OK.

Well, I personally I would like a pirc more. If we had a robatch some 1.d4-players could easely transpose to a KID. Is there some thing that separatea the modern from the Robatsch or is it the same thing?

The same thing as far as I'm aware. Transposing to a KID can be difficult if black is stubborn and refuses to play Nf6.

It doesn't transpose to the KID because there's no c4 move for white.

    The Modern can tranpose to:

    1) a Pirc, if black throws in Nf6 and white defends with Nc3 blocking the c-pawn.

    2) a KID, if black throws in Nf6 after white has played the c-pawn to c4.

Once in the Pirc/KID there's no going back to a Modern.
