Is there anyway of perhaps limiting the number of concurrent tournaments players could take part in? I say this because the line up of the latest Cupid and Mercury group random tournaments is almost identical, and this is true of a lot of the other tournaments I am playing in. Seems like the same regular players are taking the places before anyone else gets a chance to enter.
That's as may be but my point still stands, as 34 out of 48 entrants in both the new tournaments are identical.

Maybe if there were more varied tourmanents - a clan based tournament where random clans are enterered and play each other. Or tournaments based on rating or location - just something to mix it all up a bit.
I don't think my brain can cope with yet another tournament match against Prefect so soon! π

I have been wooped by prefect more times than I can count. I figgure that in ten years if I practice practice practice and prefect does not play at all...I could beat him.
I don't play in alot of tournaments, but the ones I am in are pretty much the same people.
he has wooped me 10 times!!!
but i did also get 3 draws π
i think the solution is for a smaller number of much larger tournaments - it will make them more meaningful, and many more players will get in.
the problem is to find formats that are successful, and don't take 2 years to finish.
From what I have seen, most tournaments are open for entry for 2+ days, allowing most people to enter them should they choose.
What you are probably seeing is the core tournament players, mixed with those players that feel up to a tourney. Remember, the Random tourneys add six games and when you add in clan matches, most players hit their comfort limits fairly quickly.
Originally posted by flexmorethanks for bringing that up flex, you know I can only count to four. I think you have beaten me at least that many times, and I will beat you long before I be prefect.π

Kane Ban ...[text shortened]... I don't think my brain can cope with yet another tournament match against Prefect so soon! π
I've entered the current tournaments very early (I want to be a part of all the Grand tournaments and I am just very addicted), but usually I wait for awhile before entering them- hoping that they will fill up and I won't be tempted! But alas, there is always space. Hence my idea, that there are hardcore tournament players as in the list you compiled and there are those who like the occasional tournament. Either way, both groups get in. It is my personal opinion that if Russ put up a tournament that banned all hardcore tournament players it would take a veeeeery long time to fill up.
More specified tournaments for ratings and such might alleviate your problem though.
