Thematic Tournaments?

How do thematic tournaments work?

Just as any other tournament, but the pieces are prearranged into an opening position already.

i would like to see more thematic tournaments. does anyone else?

I don't mind seeing them as I think they're a novel idea, but I probably won't enter them as I don't like playing so many concurrent matches that look the same, I find it confusing and slightly monotanous.
