This is as unfair of a distribution (for player #2) as could have happened:
https://www.dailychess.com/tournament/view.php?tournament_id=51053
Group 1 is players #'s 2,3,4,5,6, while Group 2 is #'s 1,7,8,9,10.
Wouildn't spreading the ratings more evenly be better?

If you look up "open torunaments" you will find "pairing" in this case it has been "random", so no problem.
The other pairing option is "original", that is ordered.

Thank you for the insight, but I already realize that the pairings were made according to the 'random' rule, and so they did follow the stated proceedure. My point is that using 'original' would have been more fair, and therefore better, than the choice to use the 'random' system.
