    I think the only way to improve is by playing higher rated players, read up on opening theory, study some endgames especially rook and pawns, solve puzzles, play through and analyse some grandmaster games, .....

    Don`t be so hard on yourself, you are better than me! The game has so much depth that it takes time to improve.

    I agree that playing better players is important for improving, and then look back at the game with the analyse feature and see why you lost. Of course, if you forget those lessons you won`t get better!
