Sorry, dustnrogers, I decided to drop out of one of my tournaments because these games are taking a toll on me. I decided PI Banded 1500-1599... because I wanted to challenge myself in the Modi Grouped Random. Well, we're still in the Mimir Grouped Random so maybe we'll meet there. But good luck in the tournament and I hope you kick butt.
This is my group:
Talem16 1884 Hihgest rating (1884)
Prax946 1589 (1613)
Rambo71 1136 (1246)
revmar 1321 (1380)
Kingo2000 1620 (1683)
Stearnsc 1241 (1268)
Croc 1116 (1237)
Von bilin 1381 (1383)
dlowe 1297 (1318)
anom-asil 1668 (1701)
marsdog 1643 (1643)
kyngj 1367 (1367)
I consider my hard riva anom-asil because heor she has beat me. +(*!*)+.

We can never predict the final group size, scince more that one contestant can make it trough to the second round.
O.
also higher rated players draw often, so ties are slightly more likely.
the worst thing we can have is a tie in the last round ... then the 2005 championship is actually played in 2006 ... with just groupsize 2 between very strong players ... with another tie very likely ... and may carry on for years .... and years.
so we very much do want a largeish groupsize in the last round.
unfortunately, if the second round is also groupsize 12 then we will only have 3 or 4 players in the final round ... and a tie will be quite likely.
possible fixes include:
1/ if the top two progress from this round then we have about 80 in the second round, and then 7 or 8 in the final.
or
2/ top two progress from the second round, with 7 or 8 in the final.
or
3/ group size 6 in the second round would also give about groupsize 7 in the final round.
i would prefer option 1 to maintain the player pool, but option 3 is probably simpler for russ to arrange, and would still work well.
in all these cases it would not be a problem if there were a couple of extra ties in the preliminaries because the groupsize in the final would only jump from 7 to 9 or 10 ... still acceptable ... very desirable in fact.
my new predictions:
Ironman31 (highest rated player in tournament)
Northern Lad (highest rated unbeaten player in tournament),
Perrys and mistsplicer (have both won all games played so far on rhp)
if i had to pick one ... then ironman31 is of course the choice ... he is more or less unbeaten anyway.

No seriously, and what makes me state this bold prediction? ...[text shortened]... elf), so I hope Trackhead doesn't cheat and he can pull this off.
