Last blog was a bit heavy so let’s go back to having some fun.
Hearing by chance on the radio that the Bo’ness Railway Museum was closing down for the winter at the end of October I leapt out of bed and two hours later I standing in front of 765243 ‘Maude’
This was the train used in T.V. version of ‘The Railway Children.’
I came home and looked at RHP game No. 86 ‘65243’
romi jak - idjakboz RHP 2011
42. Kh5 and the game goes on. White played 42. Kf3 Bd5 mate.
Whilst I was there they were moving their stock about and putting them into sheds for the winter (I thought some the trains might have migrated south instead.) This magnificent beast is 60163 ‘Tornado’
This time I looked for an RHP player called ‘Tornado’ and I found;
whirlpool - Tornado100 RHP 2008
42....Ke6 and the game goes on. Black played 42...Rf7 43. Qe6 mate.
ceecee - Tornado100 RHP 2011 (Black to play)
43....h4+ is good and the game goes on. 43....f6 44.Nd4 mate.
Bit of a shame to highlight Tornado who last made a move here in 2011. Going though their games I spotted quite an aggressive and good player. He played 123 games with Black, 50/50 on wins and losses. One draw!
Still making it up to you for last week. All these are easy White to play and draw.
1.Kc2! d1=Q d7 Black does not have a check to prevent 2.d8=Q
1.Rxc+ Kxc3 2.Qg3+ Qxg3 stalemate.
1.Qxe2 Qxe2 2.Bg6 and stays there. The BQ alone cannot win that game.
All too easy, this one is a bit tougher. White to play and draw.

[FEN "6rk/7p/2p5/1p2q3/8/7R/8/5Q1K w - - 0 1"] 1. Rxh7+ Kxh7 {The Black Rook is covering g2 and g1. The Black Queen is preventing Kh2. White must get rid of the Queen.} 2. Qh3+ Kg6 {or 2...Kg7 both moves will transpose into each other.} 3. Qh7+ {The only moves that draws in this position.} 3... Kf6 4. Qf7+ Kg5 5. Qh5+ Kf4 6. Qf3+ Kg5 7. Qh5+ Kf6 8. We close with a look at another Tornado100 RHP game.

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 f6 {Damiano's Defence. Back in the 1500's he was the first writer to show how bad it was and so his name was linked to it. Which is a bit of an injustice but there it is.} 3. Nxe5 {3...fxe5 4.Qh4+ is good for White but be careful, RHP has over 1,000 White wins and just over 200 wins for Black.} 3... Qe7 4. Nf3 Qxe4+ {Black wins the pawn back but the exposed Queen and open e-file will lead to a difficult game for Black.} 5. Be2 d6 6. Nc3 Qb4 7. O-O a6 8. Re1 {Sensible play by White. Pieces out, castle and now let's play chess, The threat is 9 Bb5++ and mate next move.} 8... Ne7 9. Nd5 {A bluff or a blunder. 9.Bf1 first and then Nd5 was a good idea.} 9... Nxd5 10. Bb5+ {10...Kd8 Re8 mate is not going to happen.} 10... Kf7 11. Be8+ {This is just a check because g8 is free,} 11... Kg8 12. c3 Qc5 {12...Qb6 this just give White another tempo.} 13. d4 Qb6 14. c4 {Despite being a piece down White is streets ahead in development including King safety.} 14... Nb4 {White now has the right idea but went about it in the wrong way. 15.c5 and the coming Qb3+ will be deadly.} 15. Qb3 {By playing this move first Black can block the a2-g8 diagonal.} 15... d5 16. cxd5 Bd6 {17.a3 wins the b4 Knight instead White goes for another bluff. This one works.} 17. Bh5 g6 18. Re8+ Kg7 19. Qe3 {This move causes panic in the ranks. Black can play the cool headed 19...Rxe8. 20.Qh6+ Kg8 21.Bxg6 Re7 and the White attack is faltering..} 19... Bd7 20. Qh6+ Kf7 21. Rxh8 {Black played 21...gxh5 and was mated with 22.Qxh7. If Black delays it then Black losses thus...} 21... Nxd5 22. Qxh7+ Ke6 23. Bg4+ f5 24. Ng5+ Kf6 25. Qf7
Whilst in Bo’ness I saw this street sign.
Next time I go (in the spring) I’ll follow it and see where it leads.
