Jure Škoberne is a Slovenian chess Grandmaster. Born on August 17, 1986, in Ljubljana, Slovenia, he achieved his Grandmaster (GM) title in 2008. Prior to obtaining his GM status, Škoberne received the title of International Master in 2005.
Škoberne’s notable achievements in chess include winning the 2007 Slovenian Chess Championship, coming in 2nd place in the 2006 and 2007 Slovenian Team Championships, and finishing in 3rd place in the 2006 and 2010 Slovenian Individual Championships. He also represented Slovenia at the Chess Olympiads, the 2005 (aged 19) and 2009 editions of the World Chess Championship, as well as the 2007 and 2009 European Chess Championship.
His brother, Tomaž Škoberne, is also a recognised chess player, holding the title of FIDE Master (FM).
