Mohamad Al-Sayed is a Qatari chess player, holding the title of Grandmaster (GM), which he achieved in 2011. Born in Damascus on 10th June, 1988, Al-Sayed has represented Qatar in the Chess Olympiads several times.
Al-Sayed has taken part in the World Junior Chess Championship as well as the Asian Junior Chess Championships. He has competed in numerous individual, junior and team tournaments, with notable success. In 2004, Al-Sayed won an individual bronze medal at the 36th Chess Olympiad in the Spanish city Calvià. In 2006, at the 37th Chess Olympiad in Turin, he won both team and individual bronze medals.
In 2010, Al-Sayed was a key team player at the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, where he helped Qatar win a team silver medal. That same year, he also won a bronze medal at the Asian Individual Blitz Chess Championship.
Al-Sayed achieved the GM title on the basis of his performance at the 2011 Arab Chess Championship, held in the UAE.
