Cemil Can Ali Marandi is a renowned player in world chess, known for holding the titles of International Master (IM) and Grandmaster (GM).
In 2011, Marandi won the World Youth Chess Championship in the Under-14 category held in Brazil . In 2013, he became the World junior chess champion in the Under-16 age group in the United Arab Emirates, and in the following year, he also took the first place in the U18 European Youth Chess Championship.
Despite his Turkish nationality, Marandi represented the United States in university chess while he was a student at Saint Louis University in 2017. In August 2017, Marandi gained the FIDE (International Chess Federation) Grandmaster title, becoming the third youngest ever Turkish chess player to achieve this honor.
