Farrukh Amonatov is a Tajikistani chess Grandmaster, the best player in his country and one of the top players in Asia. Born on 13 April 1978 in Kulab, Tajikistan, Amonatov earned his International Master title in 1997, and later secured his Grandmaster title in 2002. Amonatov was the winner of the Moscow Open in 2006, the Indian National Premier Championship in 2016, and the Chennai Open and Delhi Open in 2017.
In team chess events, he has twice been part of the gold medal-winning team at the Asian Team Chess Championships, both times playing on the top board for his country. He has also represented Tajikistan at the Chess Olympiad five times, from 2002 to 2012.
