Darko Anić is a French Chess International Grandmaster of Serbian origin. He was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia (now Serbia) on 16th April 1959. Anić has competed in numerous international tournaments throughout his career. He attained the title of International Master in 1986. In 1989, he moved to France. He represented his new country in the Chess Olympiads four times, in 1992, 1998, 2000, and 2002. Anić became a French citizen in 2000 and was awarded the title of Grandmaster in 2000 as well. In 2004, he won the Paris City Chess Championship. Despite his impressive career, Anić has been involved in a number of controversies, including being banned in 2008-2009 for false allegations and match-fixing.
